About Me

Hi, I’m Christoph, a Software Engineer and entrepreneur living in Vienna, Austria. After growing up in Graz, then spending an extended time in the US (NYC, SF, Missoula, Johnson City), and other parts of Europe (Brussels), I finally settled in Vienna.

I love bringing ideas to life, carefully crafted, always focused on the user while creating value for everyone involved. Looking back on 20+ years of experience in building software, products and companies, I still haven’t figured out the perfect ingredients, but one thing I can say for sure is that magic isn’t one of them.

As the Co-Founder and former CTO of Starship, I was given the opportunity to go beyond my technical skills and learn more about the world of entrepreneurship. My focus shifted away from purely technical work, towards founding and growing a company, which included, but was not limited to, hiring a fantastic team, raising money, all while building the actual product. This experience helped me sharpen my skills in areas I had never considered interesting before. Be it engineering management, handling vendor relations, technical leadership or risk management, all functions I had to learn on the job. However, my ability to abstract and generalize problems, while also solving them using code, allowed me to shape the company’s future from many different angles. I am proud of the engineering culture we’ve built, one that I always wanted to see as an engineer. Real people working on real problems. This is when I leaned more and more to “Be the change you want to see”.

Today, I can look back on a treasure trove of challenges I have overcome, true friendships made along the way, and experiences I would not want to miss. In a world where generative AI is expected to take over the world, human creativity and ingenuity are more important than ever. This is why I solely focus on solving problems for people, not machines.
